Percept's Capabilities
With years of specialized experience, the Percept team is able to handle your environmental testing needs.
Temperature and Humidity testing
Will your product perform properly at the four corners of temperature and humidity of your product specification? Percept can fully test your product across its entire temperature and humidity specification, insuring it will perform properly in all possible environmental conditions that your customers may subject it to.
Excessive temperature is the main cause of failure in most types of equipment. Temperature testing is used to determine the thermal limits of operation of units, to cause early life failures and to verify internal cooling/heating design parameters.
Equipment
Percept's testing chambers produce constant or cycling temperatures ranging from -150 F to + 350 F to test either operating or non-operating units. Humidity can be varied with temperature. Automated controllers deliver around the clock documented data.
In addition, Percept uses multiple calibrated chambers with cascade and single stage cooling units, heaters, humidity injection, and controlled air circulation. We perform thermal testing in Tenney chambers with internal sizes from 10 to greater than 40 cubic feet, and if needed, we employ larger walk-in and room-sized chambers.
Multiple combinations of humidity, altitude, and temperature are available, along with greater temperature extremes for specialized tests to meet your specific needs.
Thermal Probing and Airflow Measurement
Determine exactly the temperature gradient across your product, and individual hot spots that could be a potential area of concern.
We maintain a full line of calibrated temperature and airflow sensors and HP/Agilent data acquisition equipment to optimize product cooling while minimizing product size and noise. This insures accurate and repeatable measurements, showing you exactly how your products perform.
Benefits:
- Reduce overall temperature of your product to improve reliability
- Optimize fan size, noise, and placement for your product
- Avoid exceeding maximum recommended temperatures for individual components
With years of specialized experience, our staff is able to help you design for proper airflow and temperature, thus improving performance and reliability in your products.
Dynamics Testing (Shock and Vibration)
Dynamics testing considers the conditions experienced during a product's functional life, as well as the environmental factors encountered during storage and distribution — which can vary greatly. For example, parts of an aircraft or military vehicle must stand up to heavy vibration levels and strong accelerations while in use. It's equally important that they're able to withstand the pressure of being stacked on top of one another during storage and the various shocks and random vibrations, which occur during transportation.

Environmental Simulation
Environmental simulation demonstrates a product's ability to perform during or after exposure to a specific environment. These tests are used to prove a product's integrity, verify manufacturer's claims regarding operational limits, determine realistic warranty terms, and prepare procedures on proper and safe operation.
Design for Transportation simulation is important in any manufacturing environment. Common carriers expose packages to extreme dynamic forces, which can result in a product's failure before arrival at its ultimate destination. Our transportation simulation tests replicate conditions during transportation and storage of products in boxes or packages. We can also test products designed to operate under mobile conditions so you're fully confident that your products will arrive safely and operate correctly.
Accelerated Testing
Testing with HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Tests) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screens) techniques have revolutionized product design, reliability and time to market. Producing results in a fraction of the time and expense of traditional stress testing, HALT and HASS subject products to stresses at levels well beyond those expected in normal use until the product fails. HALT testing identifies weaknesses in product design and improves product reliability, while HASS tests quality control during the manufacturing process.
Combined with ESS (Environmental Stress Screening) HALT and HASS testing allow you to determine the true operating limits of your products quickly and comprehensively, enabling you to reduce costs, improve product reliability, accelerate time to market and reduce warranty costs.
